Collection: Versace

Gianni Versace was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 1946. After an apprenticeship at his mother's dressmaking business, he began working as a freelance designer, and by age 25, Versace was creating prêt-à-porter collections for top fashion houses of the time, including Genny, Complice, and Callaghan. In 1978, with the help of his brother, he founded his own company, and only a few years later, following on the heels of a successful fashion collection for women, the first Versace fragrances were released, expanding the luxury associated with his clothing to a whole new realm.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Versace would become a top name in fragrances. Top scents from the era included Versus, a Versace perfume for her featuring plum, cedar, rose, iris, amber, and musk, and Blonde, a white floral made to honor Versace's sister Donatella. The Jeans line was a standout during this period as well, including the invigorating Blue Jeans Versace cologne for him as well as the citrusy, spicy Green Jeans. Gianni Versace died in 1997, but his legacy continues.
